Maryland lawmakers won’t intervene to stop automatic 7-cent gas tax increase despite calls to do so

Leaders of Maryland’s General Assembly have declined a request by Comptroller Peter Franchot to convene a special legislative session to halt a 6.6-cent increase that takes effect July 1. Gas averages $4.60 a gallon statewide.
