Maryland trans veterans seek VA coverage for surgery, but agency still drafting proposed rules

An estimated 1.4 million Americans identify as transgender, according to the UCLA School of Law Williams Institute, a research center focused on sexual orientation. In Maryland, that number is slightly more than 22,000.
