Hundreds gather at Parkville High School to honor slain teen: ‘Everybody considered him a brother’

Those who knew Elias Cieslak recalled memories about his quirks, such as his collecting of tennis shoes, his pleading to ride his friends’ dirt bike, or his desire to become a cook. But among those who spoke during a vigil for the slain teen Thursday evening, one facet of Cieslak’s personality was universal — he made them feel loved.
