Maryland’s Purple Line has uncertain future after contractor quits, claiming $800M in overruns

Work has come to a halt on the $5.6 billion Purple Line across Montgomery and Prince George’s counties after the contractor quit over unreimbursed cost overruns. The state says it will complete the project, but some critics blame the problems on Gov. Larry Hogan’s lukewarm commitment to public transit.
