Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot is the frontrunner of the Democratic field of gubernatorial candidates, though at least two competitors are gaining ground, a new poll from Baltimore Sun Media Group and the University of Baltimore shows. Among Republicans, former state Commerce Secretary Kelly Schulz narrowly leads Del. Dan Cox.
